Holiday from Hell

Today was probably the worst night ever. My mom had me go to her work's holiday party and it was pathetically boring. The hall was poorly decorated and cramped, the centerpieces were so cheap tacky (there were floating candles and one of them went out on my table), the DJ was in this tiny little box, and don't get me started on the entertainment! I mean, come on! Balloon animals? Cotton Candy? A clown? A Photo booth? A Magician? Really?! I've seen better entertainment at a street fair than this! (I never been to a street fair in my life!) And get this: when it was time to eat, the dessert table (not a very good setup or choice of sweets) was being raided like a black Friday sale or a before and after Christmas sale! Talk about chaotic! My Mom finally showed up, around 7:15, and I couldn't even look at her all night. Some of her kids were being a couple of slobs, one was eating with his hands and making a mess, the rest were being so loud, louder than the kids! I love her, but this was the worst holiday party I ever been to! Kids screaming, freaks whining, it was a nightmare!

I've been to way better holiday parties than that. I went to a Christmas one at a hospital when I was 1 and another with my mom when I was 3 and my little sister was 3 months. There's pictures of those memories. First holiday one started when I was going to Parkside. I didn't go to the first one in third grade, to tell the truth I don't know why my mom didn't take me there, so when fourth grade came along, I actually went there with my mom and my sister, who was 6, and it was more extravagant. I wanted to dressed nice since it was my first holiday party, so I pick out a skirt to wear and was gonna pick out some tights, but my mom didn't let me change and had me go in my pants. Pretty soon, I was the only girl out of my friends wearing pants, AGAIN! My three best friends that I met the summer before 3rd grade were dressed nice in their holiday best and I wasn't. Well, anyway, the Holiday Party had so much, Holiday treats, Christmas Movies, better Music Entertainment, great activities, such as make your own tree ornaments, face painting and tattoos and a great magician in the library. My mom took pictures but all I found was one of my sister from that day. Fifth grade I went again and that year I got to spend time with my friends and again when me and three of my friends started middle school. Those two years I wanted something brand-new to wear to the parties and I had two dresses in mind: a Radiant Rhinestones Holiday dress for 5th grade (my best friend from 3rd grade had eyes on the same dress) and a Winter Magic Outfit for 6th grade, both from American Girl, but I didn't received any of them. I was hoping bringing the holiday party aspects to Lowell in 8th grade and in high school, but sadly it didn't happened. I did manage to have my first holiday dance from freshman year to senior year, except it was in the day and not at night like several schools have with their winter balls (or formals). I just wish it was in the night. In college, they had a something called a winter fest or festive of lights and it was kind of lame. They had some type of holiday treats with no labels and one of them burned my mouth when I took a bite of it, holiday drinks (cider and hot chocolate) and candy canes.

So far, it's been a while since I've been to a holiday party and I look at everyone else's holiday parties online and they were so much better than the one I went to. I wish everyone a very happy holidays and happy new year!
