Holiday from Hell

Today was probably the worst night ever. My mom had me go to her work's holiday party and it was pathetically boring. The hall was poorly decorated and cramped, the centerpieces were so cheap tacky (there were floating candles and one of them went out on my table), the DJ was in this tiny little box, and don't get me started on the entertainment! I mean, come on! Balloon animals? Cotton Candy? A clown? A Photo booth? A Magician? Really?! I've seen better entertainment at a street fair than this! (I never been to a street fair in my life!) And get this: when it was time to eat, the dessert table (not a very good setup or choice of sweets) was being raided like a black Friday sale or a before and after Christmas sale! Talk about chaotic! My Mom finally showed up, around 7:15, and I couldn't even look at her all night. Some of her kids were being a couple of slobs, one was eating with his hands and making a mess, the rest were being so loud, louder than the kids! I love her, but this was the worst holiday party I ever been to! Kids screaming, freaks whining, it was a nightmare!

I've been to way better holiday parties than that. I went to a Christmas one at a hospital when I was 1 and another with my mom when I was 3 and my little sister was 3 months. There's pictures of those memories. First holiday one started when I was going to Parkside. I didn't go to the first one in third grade, to tell the truth I don't know why my mom didn't take me there, so when fourth grade came along, I actually went there with my mom and my sister, who was 6, and it was more extravagant. I wanted to dressed nice since it was my first holiday party, so I pick out a skirt to wear and was gonna pick out some tights, but my mom didn't let me change and had me go in my pants. Pretty soon, I was the only girl out of my friends wearing pants, AGAIN! My three best friends that I met the summer before 3rd grade were dressed nice in their holiday best and I wasn't. Well, anyway, the Holiday Party had so much, Holiday treats, Christmas Movies, better Music Entertainment, great activities, such as make your own tree ornaments, face painting and tattoos and a great magician in the library. My mom took pictures but all I found was one of my sister from that day. Fifth grade I went again and that year I got to spend time with my friends and again when me and three of my friends started middle school. Those two years I wanted something brand-new to wear to the parties and I had two dresses in mind: a Radiant Rhinestones Holiday dress for 5th grade (my best friend from 3rd grade had eyes on the same dress) and a Winter Magic Outfit for 6th grade, both from American Girl, but I didn't received any of them. I was hoping bringing the holiday party aspects to Lowell in 8th grade and in high school, but sadly it didn't happened. I did manage to have my first holiday dance from freshman year to senior year, except it was in the day and not at night like several schools have with their winter balls (or formals). I just wish it was in the night. In college, they had a something called a winter fest or festive of lights and it was kind of lame. They had some type of holiday treats with no labels and one of them burned my mouth when I took a bite of it, holiday drinks (cider and hot chocolate) and candy canes.

So far, it's been a while since I've been to a holiday party and I look at everyone else's holiday parties online and they were so much better than the one I went to. I wish everyone a very happy holidays and happy new year!

Worst day ever!

Today was probably one of the worst days of my entire life. I came to school to do my final for acting class and I just recently founded out that I had flunked out! Turns out I hadn't hand in my journal for class, which is why I never done because I don't know how to talk about the class or the assignments they had us do. This was not how I wanted to keep my GPA up! So, right before I left devastated, I went to get my schedule for winter and just head out without saying a word. This isn't the first class I had failed, because back in 2015 (the year I was supposed to finished college and I lived on my own), I flunked out of English because it was too hard and some of the writing assignments were so difficult to understand and complete and in 2016, I failed Math, which I was never supposed to due to me staying focus and doing all my work and did my final altogether.

So far, this week is already gonna be a disaster. Tomorrow, one of my favorite boybands, the Backstreet Boys, were gonna perform for the NYC Fresh HolidayJam and I couldn’t get the tickets in time during the sale because they sold out faster than a before and after Christmas sale. I still hadn't got a call for any job openings for the holidays and I'm already getting irritated! But most of all, I failed my acting 101 class the day I lost my grandfather 8 years ago from liver cancer and all because he was afraid of surgery due to the loss of his mother (my great-grandmother) and he never trust any doctors, so apparently he was pretty stubborn, which may explain why he never moved to the states with my grandmother and I've been probably hating the holidays ever since.

NOT SO HAPPY HALLOWEEN

It's that time of year again and everyone in New York is getting ready for Halloween. Unfortunately for me, it's been the same thing every year. Two years ago, I started going to the city in 2015 as a Halloween treat. I first started going to the American Girl Place to look around and then the Disney Store in Times Square. Everywhere I go, I saw so many cute kids dressed as adorable princesses, fighting ninjas, colorful witches, favorite TV and Movie characters, anything they wanted coming from school after their Halloween parade or class party with trick or treat bags. Stores were handing out candy, treats and other Halloween goodies as I walk by. This also happened with the shopping mall in my borough. It's been a Halloween trend I've started and I went again last year. I was supposed to go again this year, but did I go the city? No, instead I got stuck in another boring art class in school, wasting my life to practically nothing for two hours! Today is officially the worst Halloween ever!

Since this is Halloween, I wanna share a truthful story. When my sister and I were kids, we always wanna celebrate Halloween like all our friends. Heck, we even figured out what we wanna be for Halloween! I wanna be a witch when I was 7, the original black without the green, and my sister wanted to be a princess, either Disney or other kind, when she was 4. We even had these trick or treat buckets from McDonald's in two different colors, orange and white. But we never got to go trick or treating with one of our friends, who was living on the block as we did, or celebrate it with a Halloween party. In third grade, I wanted to be a Powerpuff Girl because my sister and i watched the show with our friend since we didn't have cable. Well, here's the thing: my mom finally wanted us to celebrate it, but the problem was I didn’t have my costume or my sister had hers, all because I left my homework in school! Seriously? Because of that? When I was 9, I wanted to be Cowgirl Barbie and I had look through a Halloween catalogue from Party City to see who I wanna be. At first, I wanna be a Barbie princess after seeing costumes display in ToysRus the month before my birthday, but my mom said that costumes were too small for me based on the sizes of the costumes. I was a 9 year old girl and I barely understand my size. Then fifth grade comes and I had thoughts of being either a woodland fairy from American Girl or a Disney Princess (either Ariel or Aurora, my favorites), but my mom said she's not buying either and finally told me when I was 10 that we don't celebrate it! I was like, what? IS she completely insane?! Some of my family celebrates it, my uncle, my aunts, my cousins, even my older sister and my brother and their families celebrates it, and one of my nephews was born on Halloween! So how come we don't? MY dad said that it's evil and I mean, come on?! Really? That's the most stupid reason I ever heard! It's not evil and my sister knows it's not evil. Some People do stupid stuff on Halloween, such as pull pranks, egg cars, TP houses, etc. and we're not like those people! So why can't we have good kid-friendly Halloween fun like everyone else? As I got older when I started Lowell, some of my peers and classmates dressed up for Halloween (grim reaper, angel, witch, etc.) and the middle school has trick or treating. Me, on the other hand, feel so left out and I wanted to be a Grecian princess and then a flapper from the 50s (7th grade) and a pop star (8th grade and last year of middle school). By the time I reached the high school, we didn’t really dressed up until I was a junior and then a senior. In College, hoping I can changed everything about my life for this, they started hosting Halloween parties and apparently I only gone to two, which were really bad. The first was okay, but really not what I expected. They did had Treats, Costume Contest, even entertainment by the DJ, except they didn’t play Halloween music, only Michael Jackson and it was cut only for a minute. Scale of 1-10, I give it a 4. The second was horrible. There was candy, but not enough treats, just drinks and it was almost over because I just came from my class. I was gonna go to the other one at another college I got terminated from after just 4 months and couldn't do it for a year, but my mom said no because it was gonna get late and might take forever for me to go and get home.

So far as I looked back, I begin to develop a hatred towards the holiday because of my parents' decision and seeing the pictures my friends posted and reading Halloween posts from social media has made me even more and more jealous and upset! I can never forgive my parents for taking the joy of Halloween away from me and my sister!

First Movie Review

As I flew back to my lovely, humble home of New York, I recently watched the live remake of the classic 1992 Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, and might I say, absolutely beautiful, emotional and breathtaking. I really love Celine Dion's new song, How Does a Moment Last Forever, and Belle's yellow golden dress. I can't believe how amazing Emma Watson was as Belle. She's so beautiful, I can't see why my sister loves watching Harry Potter and based on the article from my first American Girl magazine from 2004. I can't wait to buy the movie and the 1991 movie, I only saw parts of the film.

I've seen so many differences between the 1991 original and this year's remake.

1991
2017
Belle is a bookworm
Belle is more than a bookworm — she's an inventor
Maurice is an inventor
Maurice is an artist
The death of Belle’s mother was never explained
Belle’s tragic backstory is fully explained — thanks to a little magic
her mother died of the bubonic plague in Paris and Maurice had to leave his dying wife and flee with Belle before they were infected too
Beast and Belle take a detour to Paris
The Enchantress left Beast with another "gift" besides the curse: a book that can take readers to the location they're especially keen to visit
the prince is a narcissistic jerk who turns the Enchantress away because he thinks she's an old, pathetic hag
There's a reason for the Beast's bad behavior
When the prince was just a young boy, his mother died of an unnamed illness and he was raised by his brutish father which, in turn, made the prince grow into an unkind monster himself
Chip has a cupboard full of brothers and sisters
Chip is an only child
Some of the lyrics in “Gaston” have changed
The Beast gets a song, too "Evermore”
There’s a new addition to the Beast’s castle crew
Stanley Tucci stars as Cadenza, the castle's court composer turned harpsichord who's married to Audra McDonald's Madame de Garderobe — and they are madly in love
the Enchantress only appears in the prologue, as the story of the cursed prince plays out on a stained glass window
The Enchantress is an actual character in the film
We actually see the Prince being turned into the Beast and see the Enchantress in person
The Beast tries to mansplain Shakespeare to Belle
Every time a petal falls, the castle starts to crumble
LeFou's adoration felt more like he was trying to live through Gaston
And about that “exclusively gay moment ...”
LeFou has feelings for Gaston
Gaston was not a soldier
Gaston was a soldier
Maurice went down the path that led to the Beast's castle only because he thought it would be a shortcut to his intended destination, unaware of what was truly ahead
Maurice doesn't willingly go down the path to Beast's castle
The enchanted staff are actually turning into their respective objects
when the last rose petal fell, they actually turned into their respective objects, essentially killing them
When Maurice originally came back from Beast's castle, Gaston wasted no time in dismissing the old man as a madman and having him committed to an insane asylum
Gaston pretends to help Maurice at first
Gaston initially humored Maurice and came with him to find Belle at Beast's castle, bringing LeFou with them. However, the only reason Gaston agreed to help Maurice is so he could seek his approval to marry Belle, and when he didn't get that, he lost his cool, knocked Maurice out and tied him to a tree to leave him for dead
LeFou turns against Gaston and the other villagers
Gaston stabs the Beast and fell to his death
Gaston fatally shoots the Beast rather than stabs him
How Gaston fell to his death was also slightly changed, as rather than lose his grip while attacking the Beast, the footbridge he was standing on collapsed
Mrs. Potts' husband
When the curse has been lifted and the villagers have had their memories of the castle and its inhabitants restored. With his mind finally clear, Monsieur Jean finally remembers Mrs. Potts and Chip, his wife and son

When I go back to Disney, I wanna visit the Beast (Prince Adam)'s castle. I always wanna go there. I read about online and based on the reviews, it must've be really beautiful. Maybe I should learn French when I go back to school to finish my degree and by the time I study and learn the language, I'll be able to visit Paris, French someday, and then the entire world, well once Mexico, South America and parts of Central America is Zika free.
